More About The Cottage:-

The interior is uncluttered and comfortable . Open plan living and dining areas open through double doors onto a large deck facing the sea and a stone paved terrace facing the mountain that allows you to seek out both the sun and cool summer shade.  In winter a large fire place keeps the cottage cozy and warm.

Seperated main bedroom and loft provide privacy and peaceful, cozy living.

Our Stone Thatch Self-catering Cottage offers:

• a Fully equipped kitchen.
• Spacious living area with fire place , comfortable couch and armchairs.
• CD  Player.
• Gas Weber barbecue.
• 8 seater dining area.
• Double bedroom & loft room with twin beds. (Loft room accessible by ladder only).

• Children and pets are welcome.  The cottage is located on a steep slope with potentially dangerous drops for young children, the elderly or infirm. Wheelchair  access is not possible.

Main attractions and landmarks in the area: -

The cottage is close to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, and over a short mountain pass, to the historic naval town of Simon's Town with its boutiques, cafes and yacht basin and to Boulders Beach, well known for its penguin colony and protected swimming.

Fish Hoek with its long, safe beach for kids and the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay are both a leisurely half hour's drive away. Scarborough and Kommetjie , with their pleasant restaurants and local shops, are the closest 'towns' and are a 5 minute drive away.

Beaches close by which are suitable for swimming, angling, watersports such as surfing, para-gliding and kite-surfing include Misty Cliffs, Scarborough, Witsands, Noordhoek and Boulders .

Magnificent flora:

Mostly endemic Proteaceae (protea family) and Ericaceae (erica family), and the numerous Restionaceae (reed family), Asteraceae (daisy family), geophytes (bulbous plants) and Iridaceae such as babiana, freesia, gladiolus, iris, moraea, sporaxis and watsonia

Rare and endangered wildlife:

Rare and endangered birds like the oyster catcher, black eagle, blue crane, various owls, cape sugarbird, orange breasted sunbird and lesser double collared sunbird are frequently sighted.

The cottage also offers a birds' eye view of southern right whales close inshore during breeding season (Jul - end Nov)

Other special visitors include chacma baboons, genets, mongooses, otters and dolphins.
